چکیده

Streptococcus agalactiae and iniae are the two main pathogens causing streptococcosis in fish. This study compares clinicopathological changes red hybrid tilapia experimentally infected with S. or iniae. A total of 180 tilapias were divided into six groups. Groups 1A, 2A, 3A inoculated intraperitoneally sterile phosphate-buffered saline, agalactiae, Fish then immediately allowed to cohabitate fish 1B, 2B, 3B, respectively. All observed at 6-hr intervals for 120 hr before surviving euthanized. The spleen, liver, brain samples collected bacterial isolation histopathology. Clinical signs developed 72 2A 96 2B 3B. Group showed highest clinical score (P<0.05). Significantly (P<0.05), more cohabitating (Groups 2B) by compared (Group 3B) 55.0±0.0 43.70±1.25%, mortality rate was significantly (P<0.05) higher than other gross lesions common 2A. Histopathologically, encephalitis while meningoencephalitis 2B. findings suggest that is pathogenic iniae, producing slightly different histopathological brain.

Human Streptococcus agalactiae Isolate in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Streptococcus agalactiae, the Lancefield group B streptococcus (GBS) long recognized as a mammalian pathogen, is an emerging concern with regard to fish. We show that a GBS serotype Ia multilocus sequence type ST-7 isolate from a clinical case of human neonatal meningitis caused disease and death in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Fecal Strings Associated with Streptococcus agalactiae Infection in Nile Tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus

This study provides the first description of long fecal strings in Streptococcus agalactiae-infected fish. Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were administered an intraperitoneal injection with 0.1 mL solution containing a 10-fold dilution from 10 1 to 10 6 cfu S. agalactiae/fish. While infected fish developed clinical signs commonly associated with S. agalactiae infection, up to 40% of infec...

Clinicopathological features and immunohistochemical detection of antigens in acute experimental Streptococcus agalactiae infection in red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.)

This study investigates the clinicopathological features of acute experimental streptococcosis in red tilapia using various routes of infection; intraperitoneal (IP), immersion (IM) and immersion cut (IC). Twenty four red tilapia in duplicates were inoculated intraperitoneally with 10(9) CFU/ml of S. agalactiae while another sets: intact, one with sharp cut at the tail end were exposed to bacte...

Effects of herbs and spice on health status of tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) challenged with Streptococcus iniae

Effects of different herbal extracts on the growth and immune defense of fish were researched in the last decade. The aim of this study was to determine the dietary effects of thyme (Thymus vulgaris), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) as a feed additive on haematology, innate immune response, and disease resistance of tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus). ...
